Boletus edulis has finally arrived in the Peace Region. A little later than normal but it is fruiting. Look for the net like (reticulate) area near the cap apex. These are robust boletes that are absolutely delicious.
If you leave them moist they will go bad in a hurry, salt may help. Dry them and they go black and do not rehydrate all that well. You end up grinding them for mushroom powder which is a waste when you can pickle them. Best way to eat leccinums in my mind and taste.
